     Commander Edward C. White, III entered the Naval Academy in 1987, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and his commission as an Ensign in May 1991.

     After a one year tour as a maintenance officer at NAS Jacksonville, FL, Commander White began flight school in Corpus Christi, TX.  He earned his wings in Kingsville, TX in January 1995 and received follow on orders to fly the F/A-18 Hornet.  His early strike fighter flying tours have been throughout the world and include: a replacement pilot and instructor pilot tour in the "Rough Raiders" of VFA-125, a junior officer tour in the "Kestrels" of VFA-137, a tour as the senior landing signals officer on CVW-5 staff, and a department head tour in the "VALIONS" of VFA-15.  Following his department head tour, Commander White served as an action officer in the Operations and Plans Directorate (J3/4) for US Joint Forces Command in Norfolk, VA.  In November of 2007, Commander White reported to the “BLUEBLASTERS” of VFA-34, where he completed a highly successful tour as Commanding Officer.  Commander White reported to OPNAV staff in September 2010 for a tour in N00X working for the Chief of Naval Operations.

     Commander White has deployed five times in support of multiple operations and exercises.  His flying experience includes combat missions in OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH, ENDURING FREEDOM, and IRAQI FREEDOM onboard the USS CONSTELLATION (CV 64), USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63), USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71), and USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72).

     Commander White's personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, six Air Medals including two with combat "V", three Navy Commendation Medals, two Navy Achievement Medals, and various unit campaign and service ribbons.  He is a graduate of Air Command and Staff College, Joint and Combined Warfighter School, and has received a Master’s of Science in Administration, Information Resource Management from Central Michigan University.  Commander White has accumulated more than 3000 tactical jet flight hours and 700 carrier landings.

     Commander White lives in Virginia Beach with his lovely wife Carla and their two children Kristin and Michael.
