Commander F. Richard Lickfold IV

Commander F. Richard Lickfold IV, a native of Grosse Pointe, MI, graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1993 with a degree in Computer Science. He was commissioned in 1996 from Officer Candidate School and after completing flight training in Pensacola, FL was designated a Naval Flight Officer in November 1997.
His sea tours include assignments with VS-38 in North Island, CA (May '98-Dec '01), VAQ-139 in Whidbey Island, WA (Feb '05-Oct '06) and his department head tour with VAQ-137 (Oct '06- Feb '09) During four deployments he flew combat missions from USS CONSTELLATION (CVN-64), USS REAGAN (CVN-76), USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65) and Al Asad Air Base in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, IRAQI FREEDOM, and ENDURING FREEDOM.
His shore tours include assignment as an instructor for Sea Control Weapons School WTU in North Island, CA (Dec '01- Jan '04), a student at the Naval War College in Newport, RI. Command Duty Officer for Joint Forces Command and as Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Joint Working Group Lead for the Joint Staff J-31 (Mar '10- Sep '12). He earned a Master's Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from The Naval War College in 2010.
Commander F. Richard Lickfold IV has logged more than 2,000 total flight hours and more than 400 arrested landings in Navy tactical aircraft. He was designated a Viking Tactics Instructor in 2000. His military awards include the Defense Meritorious Medal, Strike Flight Air Medal (3), Navy Commendation Medal (2), and various unit and service awards.
