COMMANDING OFFICER

Commander Teague Laguens

Commander Teague R. Laguens was born in Manhattan, Kansas. He attended the United States Naval Academy where he earned a B.S. in Ocean Engineering and a commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy in May 1997. He was designated a Naval Aviator in 1999.

He reported to HSL-71 at NAS North Island for Fleet Replacement Training in the SH-60B Helicopter. He spent his initial sea duty assigned to the Scorpions of HSL-49. While there, he completed a counter-narcotics deployment aboard the USS David R. Ray (DD 971).

CDR Laguens assumed the duties of HSM-74's Commanding Officer in May 2015. His military awards include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (one Strike/Flight), Navy/Marine Commendation Medal, and Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Commander Daniel Testa

Commander Daniel Testa is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Purdue University in December 1997 and received his commissioning from NROTC Purdue.

CDR Testa reported to HSL-48 at NS Mayport, FL for duty following initial and fleet replacement training. During his tour, he served as the squadron's NATOPS Officer, CNAL NATOPS Officer, and SH-60B Program Manager.

In February 2012, he reported to Joint Force Command Brunssum, Netherlands as a NATO Staff Officer. As a J-5 team lead, CDR Testa was responsible for the coordination and creation of the 4-star OPLAN directing the future of the follow-on mission in Afghanistan.

CDR Testa reported as HSM-74's Executive Officer in May 2015. His awards include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy/Marine Commendation Medal, and Navy/Marine Corps Leadership Award for CHSMWINGLANT.

COMMAND MASTERCHIEF

CMDCM (AW/SW/NAC) Cynthia Baker 

CMDCM Baker was born in Daytona Beach, Florida. She graduated from Northeast Senior High School in Pasadena, Maryland.

She entered basic training in Orlando, Florida in 1992. Upon completion of schooling, she was assigned to VF-101 "Grim Reapers" at NAS Oceana Virginia Beach, VA. In June 1996, she transferred to VF-32 and deployed onboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) encompassing Operation Desert Fox.

In October 2013, she transferred to "America's Favorite Carrier," USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), as the AIMD MMCPO and completed  WESTPAC 2014-2015.

CMDCM Baker is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 186. Upon completion, she reported to NAS Jacksonville in April 2015 as HSM-74's Command Master Chief.
