Command Master Chief Petty Officer Mark A. Evans Sr. was born in Carbondale, PA in May of 1975. He graduated from Valley View High School in 1993 and entered the U.S. Navy in June of 1996. Evans received recruit training at Great Lakes, IL, followed by Enlisted Submarine and Electronics Technician A School at Groton, Conn. His first duty assignment was aboard USS WEST VIRGINIA (SSBN 736) (Blue) where he completed submarine qualifications. Other assignments include Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific, Naval Special Warfare Development Group, USS FLORIDA (SSGN 728) (Gold), Submarine Squadron Sixteen and USS PASADENA (SSN752).
Master Chief Evans is a Master Training Specialist, a 2012 graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy and the COB/CMC Leadership Schools in Newport, RI. Evans has made nine Deterrent patrols, four CENTCOM deployments, one WESTPAC deployment and one tour in Afghanistan, where he provided direct support to Joint Special Forces during the Global War on Terrorism.
Evans' personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Enlisted Submarine Insignia, and SSBN Deterrent Patrol Pin. He is married to the former Mrs. Rachel Franz of Fernandina Beach, FL. He has two children, Mark Jr. and Olivia.
He is currently the Command Master Chief of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Four Legendary Black Knights at Naval Air Station North Island Coronado, CA.
