HM-14 COMMAND OMBUDSMAN
Welcome to HM-14 (Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Fourteen). My name is Janie Dixon and I am your Navy Family Ombudsman. The purpose of the Ombudsman program is to support command readiness by ensuring the needs of families are met. As an Ombudsman, I liaise with the Chain of Command as an advocate for HM-14’s families. Additionally, my role is to be a sounding board for service members and their families during times of difficulty providing information, resources, and referrals to professional services when requested. I also provide support for service members and their families when they are deployed or on detachment.
As your Ombudsman I help provide an easier transition during Permanent Change of Station by offering a comprehensive information packet to service members that help tremendously with orientation to the area while supplementing points of contact to resources available to them and their families. As an Ombudsman I adhere to a strict code of ethics and professionalism in my position and offer a moderate level of Confidentiality on most matters. Although almost all information received as an Ombudsman is taken into the strictest of Confidence be aware that this is not the case in some matters such as cases where suspected, potential, or alleged abuse of minors and/or neglect, spousal abuse, homicides, violence or life threatening situations are involved.
It is my pleasure to serve as your Navy Family Ombudsman. Please feel free to contact me any time day or night at (757) 642-0137. You may also reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to meeting you at Command Indoctrination and command functions.
Mrs. Susan Mann
