CAPTAIN CHARLES ‘KEITH’ NIXON
UNITED STATES NAVY
Captain Nixon joined the Navy in August of 1976 as an Airman Recruit and after attending recruit training in Great Lakes he served 15 years as an Aviation Electronics Technician attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1989. In 1991 Chief Nixon was commissioned as a Limited Duty Officer and laterally transferred to the Aerospace Maintenance Duty Officer community in 1995.
Operational tours include: Officer-in-Charge of the Intermediate Maintenance effort at Fleet Readiness Center Southeast where he led a team of 700 sailors processing over 10,000 components and engines annually. Additionally, he led the effort to collocate Intermediate and Depot maintenance personnel to facilitate improved BCM interdiction and reduce infrastructure. He also served two tours of duty onboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) and two tours of duty in Helicopter Combat Support Squadron (HC) Six where he served in varying maintenance roles including Detachment Maintenance Officer, Maintenance Material Control Officer and Assistant Maintenance Officer.
Acquisition Tours include: Dual hatted role as the Product Support Manager (PSM) and Assistant Program Manager for Logistics, for PMA-231. In that role he supported the $21B E-2D ACAT 1D program and the sustainment of the E-2C and C-2A. As the PSM he worked closely with ASN and OSD in preparing the program for Operational Test and Evaluation and on the development and execution of the new Life Cycle Sustainment Plan. Additionally, he served with Commander Naval Air Forces Atlantic as the Acting Carrier Requirements Officer. In that role he worked closely with NAVAIR, PEO Carriers and OPNAV in the development and resourcing of requirements for in-service and future carriers. He also served as the TYCOM Maintenance Requirements Officer where he worked with T/M/S Teams and NAVAIR PMA’s championing NARG and IPL priorities through the POM process.
Captain Nixon graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 1991 with a degree in Professional Aeronautics and subsequently received his Masters in Business Administration from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2008, and earned a Master of Science in National Security Affairs and Strategic Planning from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF) in 2010. Additionally, while at ICAF he completed the Senior Acquisition Course.
In July of 2014, Captain Nixon reported to Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic as Executive Officer and in August of 2016 became the Commanding Officer, Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic.
Captain Nixon’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), National Defense Service Medal (with Service Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and numerous unit awards. He is authorized to wear the Professional Aviation Maintenance Officer Warfare insignia.
