Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Jacksonville has been designated by the Commander in Chief, U. S. Atlantic Fleet (COMLANTFLT) to be the southeast area coordinator and scheduler for Department of Defense/Navy offshore air and surface areas, and overland for Special Use Airspace (SUA) and Military Training Routes (MTR). Operationally, Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Jacksonville has three components, SEALORD, which provides air traffic control services, BRISTOL, which provides surface unit tracking and air intercept control (AIC) services, and SCHEDULES, which provides scheduling services for Special Use Airspace or targets in the Pinecastle bombing complex.
Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Jacksonville has respnsibility for the Operating Areas (OPAREA) and Warning Areas from Charleston, SC to Daytona Beach, FL and is a subordinate command of Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Jacksonville is assigned additional duties by Commander, Navy Region Southeast (COMNAVREGSEJAX).
