Shirley A. James

 Senior Chief James is a native of Augusta, GA.  She entered the Navy in January 1998 and attended Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Il with follow-on training at the Naval Aviation Technical Training Center (NATTC), Pensacola, FL.

Upon Completion of AO "A" School, she selected orders to NAS Whidbey Island and attended NAMTRAGRUDET Whidbey Island, Wa where she received her initial EA-6B Prowler Training.  Senior Chief James reported to VAQ-134 for her first sea tour assignment in August, 1998.  During her tour with the Graudas, she deployed in support of Opertaions ALLIED FORCE, NORTHERN WATCH, and SOUTHERN WATCH.

In March of 2003, Senior Chief James was selected for Instructor Duty and reported to the Electronic Attack Weapons School, Whidbey Island, WA.  It was during this assignment that she was promoted to First Class Petty Officer, September 2006.

Senior Chief James' third assignment was with the Graudas again where she held positions in the Ordnance Work Center and in Maintenance Control.  She was deployed three times to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.  Upon selection and advancement to Chief Petty Officer, September, 2009, she transferred to VAQ-142 in November, 2009.  While with the Gray Wolves, she deployed to Al Assad, Iraq in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and NEW DAWN. 

Senior Chief James reported to NAS Whidbey Island, Wa in March 2012 and was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer.  In March of 2013, she reported for duty at her current assignment, the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Electronic Attack Weapons School.

Her personal awards and certifications include the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards), Aviation Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist, and various unit and campaign ribbons.
