Marc J. Miguez

CDR Marc J. Miguez, a native of New Iberia, Louisiana, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in December 1985. In June 1986, he reported to Parris Island, South Carolina for recruit training. Upon completion of recruit training, he reported to 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company, Mobile, Alabama. During his tour with 3rd Force (1986-1993), he completed numerous military schools and deployments. He was a member of a select group that augmented 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company that participated in Operations DESERT SHIELD / DESERT STORM.

In March 1994, he received a commission as an Ensign in the US Navy through the Aviation Officer Candidate School (AOCS) at NAS Pensacola, Florida and completed flight school and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in May 1995. He then reported to NAS Oceana and completed initial training in the F-14 TOMCAT.

Seagoing assignments include service in VF-102, VF-143, and VFA-2 where he completed numerous combat deployments aboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73), USS JOHN F KENNEDY (CV-67), and USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72) in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH (OSW) and IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF).   

CDR Miguez has served ashore at Strike Fighter Weapons School Atlantic (SFWSL) as an F-14 Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor (SFTI). He also attended the United States Marine Corps, Command and Staff College (CSC) receiving a Master of Military Studies (MMS) and completed Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase One. In January 2008, he served with United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) as a liaison officer to the National Counter Terrorism Center in Washington DC.         

CDR Miguez has accumulated approximately 3,000 flight hours in both the F-14 and F/A-18. His personnel awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Air Medals (two Strike Flight awards), three Navy Commendation medals, and Combat Action Ribbon as well as numerous unit commendations and awards.
