CAPT Jeffrey T. Anderson

Deputy Commander, Carrier Air Wing THREE


Captain Jeffrey T. Anderson is a native of Fayetteville, Georgia. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1991, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. He completed flight training in October 1994  and reported to the “Gladiators” of VFA-106 at NAS Cecil Field, Florida in January 1995 for initial training in the FA-18C “Hornet.” After completion of his training, he reported to VFA-81 “Sunliners” at NAS Cecil Field. He embarked on two deployments with the “Sunliners” onboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65) in 1996 and USS Dwight D Eisenhower (CVN 68) in 1998 flying missions in support of Operation DELIBERATE FORGE and Operation SOUTHERN WATCH.

In December 1998, Captain Anderson graduated from the Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program at the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) in Fallon, Nevada.  After graduation, he remained at TOPGUN as an instructor where he served as Training Officer.

Captain Anderson reported as a Department Head to VFA-82 “Marauders” at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina in August 2001.  He deployed onboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) in September 2001 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Captain Anderson also deployed with the “Marauders” in 2003 onboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.

Following his operational department head tour, Captain Anderson reported once again to the “Gladiators” of VFA-106 as an instructor. During his tour at VFA-106, Captain Anderson served as Training Officer and Operations Officer.

In November 2005, he attended the U.S. Naval War College at Newport, Rhode Island and was awarded a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.  Captain Anderson reported to VFA-37 “Ragin’ Bulls” in October 2007 where he served as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer.  He deployed with the Bulls in 2007/2008 onboard USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75) in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. 

After his command tour, Captain Anderson served on the staff of Commander, Naval Air Forces Atlantic Fleet as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Training and Readiness.  He was also assigned to the Joint Staff in Washington D.C. where he served as an action officer in the Global Force Management Branch of the Directorate for Regional Operations (J-33) and as Deputy Executive Assistant to the 18th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
