Master Chief Tim Nettles is a native of Midland, TX and a 1991 graduate of Midland High School. In 1992, he completed Recruit Training in Great Lakes, IL and AZ Class "A" school in Meridian, MS. His tours of duty include: Naval Air Warfare Station Pt. Mugu, CA; HM-15 Corpus Christi, TX; Naval Weapons Test Squadron Pt. Mugu, CA; VFA-22 Lemoore, CA; FRC Southwest Site Pt. Mugu, CA; VFA-97 Lemoore, CA.

In 2010, he was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program and served as the Command Senior Chief for MCM Crew EXULTANT embarked in USS DEXTROUS (MCM-13), USS WARRIOR (MCM-10), and USS CHIEF (MCM-14). From 2012 to 2014, he served as the Command Master Chief for the Vigilantes of VFA-151. From January 2014 to February 2016, he was the CMC for the Flying Eagles of VFA-122. Master Chief Nettles report to Carrier Air Wing SEVENTEEN in February 2016.

Master Chief Nettles graduated with honors from the University of La Verne with a BS in 2002 and a Master's of Business in Organizational Management in 2007. He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 154 (Khaki) where he won the Academic Achievement Award. He has earned numerous unit and personal awards including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards).
